Five people died and six were injured after a car invaded the terrace of a bar in southeastern Australia, authorities reported this Monday.
The 66-year-old driver was taken to hospital after the crash on Sunday night in the rural town of Daylesford, northwest of Melbourne, police said.
Police investigators are trying to determine how the car went up the sidewalk and into the roadside outdoor dining area. The driver did not report alcohol.
According to police, a young man, two men in their 30s and a woman in her 40s died at the scene. A teenage girl was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital, where she died on Sunday night. A 35-year-old woman is in intensive care.
