Israel’s special envoy to combat anti-Semitism, who was one of the most critical voices, compared the October 7 attacks to what would become known as Crystal Night.
“As we mark 75 years since Crystal Night, October 7 represents, for our world, the same thing as that night and gives us the opportunity and responsibility to act so that we can predict and prevent what happened after that Crystal Night. Crystal,” he defended.
Defending that, once again, the silence is deafening, Michal Cotler-Wunsh recalled November 9, a day marked by a wave of Nazi violence against the Jews, which became known as Crystal Night. Even so, the special envoy guarantees that the outcome of the conflict between Israel and Hamas will not be the same as in the past.
“Never again, for us, means that we will never again be helpless. That we will never again wait for someone to come save us, even if we all have to die doing so. Never again will Jews be massacred and a few years later will wonder what it was like.” possible. 2023 is not 1943. Now we have a Nation State, we have sovereignty and a defense force,” she emphasizes.
Michal Cotler-Wunsh, who harshly criticized the UN Secretary General for considering that António Guterres did not condemn Hamas’ action, affirms that “Never again” could happen again if the similarities of the process are not recognized.
“To prevent it all from happening again, we must recognize that the same dehumanization, the same delegitimization and the same double standards, which allowed the murder and burning of Jews, are now used against the Jewish State,” he says.
The Israeli, defender of Human Rights, also leaves a warning to the international community that History could even repeat itself.
“We may be the canaries placed in the mines, but all the mines will collapse. History repeats itself and, in this moment of Crystal Night, which was October 7, if we do not recognize that it is time to say ‘Never Again ‘ ‘, then we will not be failing the Jewish State, but rather all of our humanity.”
