North Korea tested two long-range strategic cruise missiles on Wednesday, state media said, as part of exercises to demonstrate its tactical nuclear capability.
North Korean President Kim Jong-un oversaw the firing of the missiles at the site as they traveled 2,000 kilometers above the sea, expressing “great satisfaction,” the official KCNA news agency said.
This weapons test by Pyongyang is the eighth of its kind in three weeks, after the last took place last Saturday.
At the time, South Korea accused North Korea of firing a ballistic missile toward its east coast.
That launch came hours after the United States and South Korea ended yet another naval exercise off the eastern coast of the Korean peninsula.
An American aircraft carrier was involved in the exercises.
