The Russian president visited the armed forces headquarters in Rostov-on-Don, close to the border with Ukraine, where he was briefed on the progress of the military campaign in the neighboring country, the Kremlin said on Friday.
“After his official visit to Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin arrived in Rostov-on-Don, where he visited the headquarters of the Southern Military District,” said a statement on the Russian presidency’s website.
During the visit, the Kremlin chief was accompanied by Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and other top commanders, who briefed him on the progress of the military campaign in Russia.
Putin visited the Rostov-on-Don military barracks several times, the last of which was on October 20, when he returned from China, where he took part in the third New Silk Road Forum and met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. .
