This Thursday, the Council of Ministers approved the agreement between Portugal and the United Kingdom that mutually recognizes the exchange of driving licenses, which had previously ended with the British departure from the European Union (Brexit).
“The decree approving the agreement between the Portuguese Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on mutual recognition for driving and exchanging driving licenses was signed”, refers to a statement released after the board meeting.
With this agreement, driving licenses issued by issuing authorities in both countries will be mutually recognized.
After Brexit, the system of driving licenses issued by member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area no longer applies to the United Kingdom.
At the same session of the Council of Ministers, the Economic Cooperation Agreement between the Portuguese Republic and the Republic of Moldova was approved, which aims to develop and strengthen economic cooperation between the two states.
The aim of the agreement is to “intensify and diversify bilateral economic relations on a mutually beneficial basis”, the Council of Ministers said.
