Venezuela accuses Israel of “genocide” against the Palestinian people

Venezuela questioned the statements of the Israeli president, who on Thursday asked for “decency and respect” from Latin American countries critical of the offensive in the Gaza Strip, and accused Israel of carrying out “a genocide” against the Palestinians.

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses repudiation of the cynical statements of the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, who shamelessly criticized the dignified position adopted by Latin American countries, including Venezuela, in the face of the genocide perpetrated by that country against the noble Palestinian people.”, according to a statement.

In the document, released by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Venezuela responded to the president of Israel “that the actions far exceed the limits of decency and respect, being classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity, which sooner or later will be done.” reality”. be judged by international law”.

“Israel must stop the indiscriminate attacks against the civilian population and stop the systematic massacre it commits against the Palestinian people, especially women and children,” he stressed.

The document states that “the Venezuelan Government joins the demonstrations of numerous Latin American countries, which have called for an immediate ceasefire and have condemned Israel’s Nazi extermination policy against the Palestinian people.”

“We will keep our voice loud, denouncing barbarism and promoting actions to guarantee compliance with United Nations resolutions, in favor of the creation of a free Palestinian State,” he stressed.

On Thursday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog called for “decency and respect” from Latin American countries that criticized the Israeli offensive in Gaza, urging them to dialogue with Iran and press for the release of Israeli hostages.

“I think the leaders of Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and others, who have criticized us, should show some decency and respect and take the hostage demands to world leaders, putting pressure on Iran and its allies, including the [movimento islamita] Hamas,” said Herzog, at the presidential residence in Jerusalem.

The Israeli head of state sent a message to “all Spanish-speaking countries, some with strong ties to Iran and all its allies,” to express his indignation at the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7 and ask Tehran for release of 239 hostages kidnapped in Gaza.

Herzog said he told many leaders of Latin American countries that “they should look in the mirror and realize that they could be next.”

“We know of Iran’s presence in the region, in Latin America, we know its alliances with some countries. Unfortunately, no one will be exempt from the terrorist machinery of these organizations. We all have to fight together,” he added.

On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel with the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of armed militiamen.

In response, Israel declared war on Hamas, which has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007 and is classified as terrorist by the EU and the United States, bombed several of the group’s infrastructure in Gaza and imposed a total siege on the territory, cutting off water. . supplies, fuel and electricity.

Israeli bombings from air, land and sea caused more than 11,000 deaths, mostly civilians, in the Gaza Strip, according to Hamas data.
