The British Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that the arrival of winter is hampering the advance of both Ukrainian and Russian forces in eastern Ukraine.
“As winter intensifies in eastern Ukraine, there is little prospect of major changes on that front,” the Ministry of Defense said in the daily report.
In any case, London highlighted the “intense ground fighting” still taking place in the regions of Kupiansk, Avdiivka and on the left bank of the Dnipro River, where the Ukrainians have managed to establish a defense line.
Ukrainian troops said they had managed to drive out Russian troops stationed on the riverbank, marking a “small but important strategic advance.”
In response, the Russian military used “tactical aviation,” including explosive drones, to try to immobilize Ukrainian forces.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have revealed that their forces repelled 12 attacks by the Russian army between Friday and today.
The river forms a natural dividing line along the front. Since withdrawing from the city of Kherson and retreating across the Dnipro, Russian forces have shelled communities on the Ukrainian-controlled side of the river to prevent Kiev’s soldiers from advancing into Russia-annexed Crimea.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a military offensive in Ukraine that, according to UN data, caused the worst refugee crisis in Europe since World War II (1939-1945) and caused a large number of casualties over the past twenty months, not only military but also civilian , impossible to count as long as the conflict continues.
The invasion – justified by Putin with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by most of the international community, which has responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic sanctions on to impose on Russia.
