EasyJet with profits of 525 million euros in 2023

The British airline easyJet made 455 million pounds (524.9 million euros) of pre-tax profits in fiscal year 2023, with a record financial performance in the second half, the company announced.

According to data published this Tuesday by easyJet, the financial objectives for fiscal year 2023 were met, with record numbers in Portugal, with seat availability of around 10.8 million and reservations of 9.8 million, considered the best results of history.

In Portugal, the company recorded a 32% increase in bookings in 2023 compared to the previous year and an occupancy rate of more than 90% on flights departing from Portuguese airports.

“This strong occupancy rate is indicative of a strong market presence, customer loyalty and easyJet’s continued commitment to improving the passenger experience,” the airline says.

easyJet guarantees leadership in Madeira and 2nd place in mainland Portugal’s main airports: Porto, Lisbon and Faro.

According to the company, the current market share is 23% in Funchal, 38% in Porto Santo, 20% in Porto, 14% in Lisbon and 19% in Faro.

For next year, the company expects new record supply and demand figures, with a 4% increase in seats and a 6% increase in reservations, “which demonstrates the airline’s popularity and consumer confidence, reflecting the strong investment of the company in the national market,” states the note published today.

With these results in Portugal, easyJet decided to add two new destinations to the 98 existing routes: from Porto to Menorca, from June 25, 2024, and from Funchal to Bordeaux, from April 6, 2024.

The company also highlights that easyJet Holidays’ profit more than tripled (+221%), generating a pre-tax profit of £122 million (€140 million).

The outlook for fiscal year 2024 is positive: easyJet Holidays expects growth of more than 35% and an increase in average selling prices.
