An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale shook the island of Mindanao, in the southern Philippines, this Saturday. A tsunami warning was issued.
The earthquake was recorded at 10:37 p.m. local time (2:37 p.m. in Lisbon) at a depth of 32 kilometers, announced the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center predicts that the waves caused by this earthquake will reach several regions of the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Palau and Malaysia.
On November 15, at least seven people died after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake off the island of Mindanao.
The Philippines is located on the so-called “ring of fire” of the Pacific, an area of great seismic and volcanic activity where around seven thousand earthquakes are recorded every year.
