The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center predicts that the waves caused by this earthquake will reach several regions of the Philippines, Indonesia, Palau and Malaysia.
This is a region of great seismic and volcanic activity, known as the Pacific Ocean’s ‘ring of fire’, where around 7,000 earthquakes are recorded annually, the last of which was on November 15, when seven people were killed in an earthquake of the magnitude of 6.7 also for the island of Mindanao.
