French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin admitted on Monday that there was a “clear” error in the psychiatric monitoring of the alleged perpetrator of the knife attack near the Eiffel Tower in Paris on Saturday.
In the attack, a tourist with dual nationality, German and Filipino, was killed by a stabbing and two people were injured, hit with hammer blows.

Armand Rajabpour-Miyandoab, a 26-year-old French-Iranian, was detained after the attack and convicted of Islamic radicalization and subjected to a treatment order that entailed strict psychiatric supervision.
French anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-François Ricard said this on Sunday Armand Rajabpour-Miyandoab pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group in a video he made before the attack.

Rajabpour-Miyandoab, who served four years in prison for planning a 2016 attack in Paris’ La Defense business district, benefited from “medical monitoring” until April 2023 due to mental problems, Ricard added.
