The Palestinian prime minister today accused Israel of being “motivated by an instinct for revenge” in its military offensive against the Gaza Strip, following the attack by the Islamist group Hamas on Israeli territory on October 7.

“The prime minister of the occupying government sees the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the Palestinian Authority and the (Palestinian) government as a symbol of Palestinian nationalism (…) and the unity of the Palestinian territories. This is what fights us every day,” he claimed.
In this sense, he stated that the Israeli authorities are planning to “expel” the Palestinian population and stated that “what the occupying army is doing right now is encircling the people and pushing them towards Rafah – on the border with Egypt -, what does it represent greatest evidence of the purpose of a move [da população]”.
“We are faced with the reoccupation of the Gaza Strip and plans to create ‘buffer zones’ within Gaza. These are issues that we completely reject and we ask the world to reject them,” he emphasized, before criticizing countries that ask Israel for proportionality in their struggle. its military response.
“It is a shame that there are calls for fewer people to die and less destruction. These positions imply the legalization of murder. The world must call on Israel to immediately end its aggression, killing and destruction,” Mohammad Shtayyeh said before the question. the International Criminal Court (ICC) to accelerate its investigation.
In this way, he emphasized that “Palestine is a test for international law and for the credibility of the ICC”, which “cannot pass the exam or demonstrate to the world that it is not an instrument in the hands of third parties and that it is not politicized.”
“Let’s wait and see,” the Palestinian prime minister added.
