Peru was named the best cultural and gastronomic destination in the world at the 2023 World Travel Awards.
While it was recognized as the best cultural destination for the second time, the South American country was recognized as the best gastronomic destination for the eleventh time.
The Inca country surpassed competitors such as Cambodia, Cuba, Spain and Vietnam in what has become known as the Oscars of Tourism, Wall Street log.
The executive chairman of the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission (Promperú), Angélica Matsuda, says that these “awards reflect and recognize the collective effort of all Peruvians and highlight the cultural and gastronomic diversity of the country,” in addition to a crucial boost for Peruvian tourism.
Recently, Peru was recognized as the Best Gastronomic Destination in the Americas, the Best Cultural Destination and the Top Destination in South America, with Machu Pichu being named the Best Tourist Attraction in South America.
