Police decided on Tuesday to close schools in Wales due to a “serious attack” in Aberfan, in the south of the country.
According to Sky News, a manhunt is underway after a 29-year-old woman was stabbed.
“The suspect left the scene immediately after the incident and investigations are underway to find him. Searches are being conducted by armed officers in the area” of where everything happened, police said.
Emergency services responded to a situation that occurred shortly before 9:10 a.m. and it is reported that the stabbed woman was taken to hospital and her life is not in danger, the news station said.
Due to this “serious attack”, at least one school and a daycare center near the site were closed as a precaution.
“Armed officers are in the area and we are asking people to avoid the area so we can effectively deal with this incident,” police said on social media.
