Israel bombs Hezbollah positions in Lebanon from land and air

The Israeli army bombed Hezbollah positions in Lebanon from land and air on Wednesday, in response to attacks by the Lebanese Shiite group on several of its positions in northern Israel, a military source said.

The head of the Israeli Defense Forces indicated that Jewish army positions were attacked from Lebanon in the areas of Aramshe and Mount Hermon, the latter in the Syrian Golan occupied by Israel since 1967.

Israeli tanks and artillery attacked several positions in Lebanon and a military aircraft destroyed Hezbollah’s “military infrastructure” and a “command center,” Israeli sources said.

Hostilities in the zone between Israel and Lebanese militias, the worst since 2006, resumed after the war that began on October 7 between Israel and the Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

At least 120 deaths have been recorded since the start of hostilities: ten in Israel – seven soldiers and three civilians -, at least 110 in Lebanon, including 80 Hezbollah members, 12 Palestinian militia fighters, one soldier and 17 civilians. including three journalists and three children.

On Wednesday, a Lebanese soldier died after an Israeli bombing attack on a military post in southern Lebanon, the first death reported by the country’s army since cross-border clashes began.

In a statement, the army said three soldiers were also injured after the “Israeli enemy” bombed one of its military posts in the Adaisseh region.

Israel evacuated more than 60,000 people from various locations in the north, while the fighting led to the withdrawal of about 55,000 residents from southern Lebanon.
