Hamas warned this Sunday that none of the hostages, kidnapped during the attack in Israel on October 7 and still detained in the Gaza Strip, will leave “alive” without negotiations and without “answers to the demands” of the Palestinian movement.
“Neither the fascist enemy and its arrogant leadership, nor its supporters, will be able to recover their prisoners alive without exchange and negotiation, and without satisfying the demands of the resistance,” said Abou Obeida, spokesman for the al-Qassam Brigades. the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic movement, in a video released today.
A week of truce in late November allowed the release of 105 hostages held in the Gaza Strip, including 80 Israeli hostages exchanged for 240 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
Qatar, which mediated between Hamas and Israel, indicated that efforts continue to reach a new truce and free new hostages, while stressing that the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip “has reduced the prospects” of success.
Israel – which has never published a list – indicated that 137 hostages remain detained in the Gaza Strip, where its army is leading an all-out offensive, marked in particular by intense bombardment – from the air, sea and sky – against small and Overpopulated territory, ruled by Hamas since 2007.
Around 240 hostages were forcibly taken to the Gaza Strip by Palestinian fighters during their unprecedented attack on October 7 in southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people, most of them civilians.
Abou Obeida affirmed that the fight will continue against Israeli forces, whose military operations in the Gaza Strip have already caused, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health, almost 18,000 deaths, mainly women, children and adolescents.
“We have no other option but to fight against this barbaric occupier, in every neighborhood, street or alley,” he stated, adding: “the holocaust that the enemy is committing aims to break the strength of our resistance (…), but “We are fighting a sacred struggle, a battle in our land.”
