The film “Barbie”, by Greta Gerwig, and the television series “Succession” lead the nominations for the 2024 Golden Globes, the North American film and television awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced this Monday.
The list of nominees for the 81st edition of the Golden Globes, published this Monday, reveals that “Barbie” has nine nominations, including in the categories of Director – Greta Gerwig’s debut in this category -, Comedy or Musical Film and best female and male performance, for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, respectively.
Of six Golden Globe nominees for Best Original Song, three refer to “Barbie.”
With eight Golden Globe nominations comes “Oppenheimer”, by Christopher Nolan, nominated, for example, for Best Drama Film, Director and Screenplay. Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr. are also nominated in the acting categories.
With seven nominations ‘ex-aequo’ are “Poor Creatures”, by Yorgos Lanthimos, and “Killers of the Flower Moon”, by Martin Scorsese.
The nominees for the Globe for Best Drama are “Oppenheimer”, “Killers of the Flower Moon”, “The Zone of Interest” (Jonathan Glazer), “Maestro” (Bradley Cooper), “Past Lives” (Céline Song) and “Anatomy of a fall” (Justine Triet).
In the category of Best Comedy or Musical are “Barbie”, “Air” (Ben Affleck), “American Fiction” (Cord Jefferson), “The Holdovers” (Alexander Payne), “May Dec – Secrets of a Scandal” (Todd Haynes) and “Poor Creatures.”
Also in the film categories, nominated for the Golden Globe for best foreign language film are “Anatomy of a Fall”, “Folhas Caídas” (Aki Kaurismaki), “Io Capitano” (Matteo Garrone), “Vidas Passadas” , “The Snow Society” (JA Bayona) and “Zona de Interesse”.
In the television categories, the final season of the award-winning series “Succession” once again leads the Golden Globes, with nine nominations, mainly for the cast, with Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, among others.
In this edition of the Golden Globes, two new categories were added: “Stand-up Comedy Performance on Television and Film” and “Film with Best Box Office Results.”
The first includes Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock, Ricky Gervais and Trevor Noah.
The second features “Barbie,” “Guardians of the Galaxy 3,” “John Wich: Chapter 4,” “Mission: Impossible – Judgment Day – Part I,” “Oppenheimer,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse “, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and “Super Mário Bros – The Movie”.
The 81st Golden Globes ceremony is scheduled for January 7 in Los Angeles, California.
