Two boats with 169 people on board, including 33 minors and 14 women, arrived in Tenerife this Tuesday, reported the rescue services of the Canary Islands, in Spain.
The rescue services of the Canary Islands informed the EFE agency that on the first boat, intercepted by Salvamento Marítimo Español, there were 25 men of sub-Saharan origin, seven of whom were possibly minors. They all disembarked in the port of the city of Los Cristianos, in Tenerife, in good health.
The migrants from the second boat arrived on their own to the island of Tenerife, on Camisón beach, in the municipality of Arona, in the south of the island.
There were 144 people traveling on this boat, including 130 men and 14 women, including 26 minors.
One of the migrants on this boat died after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest that he could not overcome, despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers performed on land by a medical team.
In addition to confirming this death, the health team was responsible for transferring the other 18 occupants of this boat – 12 men and six women – to a hospital, according to the Canary Islands emergency services.
