Russia announced Thursday that it has neutralized nine Ukrainian drones en route to Moscow, just hours before President Vladimir Putin took part in a meeting with journalists and citizens in the Russian capital.
“An attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out an aerial terrorist attack on locations on Russian territory using drones was thwarted,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
According to the same source, “nine Ukrainian drones were destroyed or intercepted” over Kaluga, 160 kilometers from the Russian capital, and the Moscow region.
Kiev did not comment on the accusation of the alleged attack on Moscow, referring to the launches of unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russia against Ukraine.
According to a Ukrainian military report, Kiev intercepted 41 of the 42 explosive drones launched by Russia that night.
According to the same source, the Russian military also fired S-300 missiles towards the southern regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv.
Kiev has not detailed the consequences of these attacks.
