MEPs and European Parliament staff were warned on Thursday about contaminated water bottles in Strasbourg facilities, in the meeting room and in the offices, a situation the European Assembly says it is investigating, European sources told Lusa.
In a message sent today to Members of the European Parliament and some staff, the European Parliament’s crisis management center warned of “suspected water pollution in Strasbourg in water bottles distributed today in the meeting room and in the Presidency offices”.
“You are requested not to drink from any water bottle on the premises of the European Parliament in Strasbourg,” said the message, which Lusa had access to and which was sent to several employees.
In the message, the European Assembly’s crisis management center also suggested contact in the event of a medical emergency and indicated that national authorities had been informed.
An official source from the European Parliament contacted Lusa and confirmed the message, sent “after suspicion”, indicating that the institution is “monitoring” the situation.
The same source said he was not aware of any cases of infection.
The December plenary session of the European Parliament started on Monday and ended today.
