Russian anti-aircraft defenses shot down 32 enemy drones this afternoon during a massive attack against the annexed Crimean peninsula, the Russian Defense Ministry reported this Saturday, while Ukraine announced that it had also been attacked with 30 devices.
“The terrorist attack” in kyiv, as defined in the military statement, was carried out with unmanned devices.
Ukrainian ‘drones’ also attacked several districts in the Kursk region, bordering Ukraine, said the governor, Román Staravoit, on Telegram.
The attack caused damage to eight houses, which suffered various losses, and to a compressor factory at the railway station in the city of Dmitriev.
The power line that feeds a factory in the Zheleznodorozhki district, considered one of the largest iron ore producers in the post-Soviet space, was also affected.
During an event organized by Russian Railways, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday drew attention to the need to pay special attention to the security of the railway network in the face of Ukrainian sabotage.
The Ukrainian Air Force, for its part, claimed to have repelled a new Russian attack with ‘drones’ during the night, having shot down 30 of the 31 devices launched over various regions of the country.
“In total, 31 Shahed-136/131 attack drones were launched during the offensive that the occupiers launched in different regions of Ukraine,” the Air Force said in a statement.
The attack targeted, among other targets, the capital kyiv, the southern Kherson region and the western Khmelnytsky region, all of which are frequently attacked by Russia.
Russian authorities reported the death of one person in overnight Ukrainian shelling in the occupied part of the Kherson region in the south of the country.
The governor of the Russian region of Belgorod, Viatcheslav Gladkov, reported 41 Ukrainian attacks in the last 24 hours, on this border and frequently attacked territory.
On Friday night, the Russian Army indicated that it had repelled an attack with 26 Ukrainian drones in the space of two hours, on Crimea, a peninsula annexed in 2014.
A few hours earlier, the Russian region of Koursk was attacked by six drones.
These types of attacks have become almost daily on both sides of the confrontation and the number of devices used is increasing more and more.
