Ukraine’s armed forces warned on Monday that Russia has enough drones to continue attacking in different directions every day, despite the imposition of sanctions by Kiev’s partners.
The warning was made by Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat, who explained the importance of counterattacking using Western weapons, which are much more modern than those inherited from Soviet times.
“It is not easy to find out what their plans are, but we understand that the enemy is gathering certain resources. We are talking about cruise missiles, namely ballistic missiles and in particular the Iskander M,” Ignat explained.
“Now that we are closer to the cold season, the enemy has started to use air missiles, in particular Kh-101, Kh-555, (…) but he still has drones, he has enough drones to attack Ukraine every day from different directions,” Ignat said in statements to Ukrainian television.
Ignat believed that the arrival of F-16 fighters could mark a before and after in the course of the war, because although Ukrainian aviation regularly fends off Russian attacks, these North American fighters have greater precision and effectiveness.
“We would like to use Western weapons adapted from Soviet equipment on American aircraft. The effectiveness will increase many times with the use of F-16s,” the spokesman said.
