Some 300 people, who saw their homes destroyed by Israeli bombing, sought refuge in the Holy Family parish, which serves the Christian community in the Gaza Strip.
The situation inside the church, however, is increasingly desperate, with reports of people spending hours lying on the ground for fear of being shot, while, over the weekend, several civilians were hit by sniper fire.

Survivors therefore hope that the Israeli army will recognize the calls being made. The families of these citizens continue to ask for help and an end to the attacks against the church.
Fifi Saba, who has her sister inside the religious complex, told several international media that during the weekend, and after two women
They were murdered, people spent hours lying on the ground for fear of being shot.
The woman also affirms that there are no Hamas elements within the church and, therefore, she considers the successive attacks incomprehensible.
The Israeli Army has already assured that it is investigating what is happening, but so far the soldiers have not yet demobilized from the scene.
At this moment no one can leave the rooms where these soldiers are located and those who have sought refuge there have told their families that the Israelis shoot at “everything that moves.”
A British MP, who has relatives in the church, told the BBC this Sunday that everyone is “terrified” and had to take refuge in the catechism rooms.
Layla Moran also reveals that civilians don’t even dare to go to the bathroom because they are targeted by Israeli soldiers.
The situation is also increasingly difficult, as there is no longer any food and the water they had access to, which was contaminated, stopped running after one of the three existing generators was destroyed.
According to information provided by the British deputy, a sniper is already inside the complex.
Layla Moran admits she doesn’t know if her family will survive until Christmas. Fifi Saba also says she has indications that soldiers entered the church grounds and occupied a room.
