The European Parliament and the member states reached this Wednesday a political agreement on a broad reform of the European Union’s asylum and migration policy (EU), after a final night of negotiations, announced the Council of the EU.
This reform, which includes a series of texts, provides, in particular, for a reinforced control of the arrivals of immigrants to the European Union, closed centers near the borders to more quickly return those who do not have the right to asylum and a solidarity mechanism mandatory for the benefit of states under immigration pressure.
