The well-known song ‘Last Christmas’ by the British duo Wham! It reached number one during Christmas week on the official UK chart, 39 years after its release in 1984.
The classic of the Christmas season beat ‘You’re Christmas To me’ by Sam Ryder, in second place, and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey, announced this Saturday by The Official Charts Company, an entity that Collect data from the sector.
Followed by ‘Stick Season’, by Noah Kahan, ‘Merry Christmas’ by Ed Sheeran & Elton John and ‘Fairytale of New York’, by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, after the death on November 30 of the vocalist of the English band – Irish group, Shane MacGowan.

“He felt that any great songwriter should be able to write a Christmas hit. Unfortunately, it’s too late for George now, but he would be absolutely delighted” with it.
The number one album this Christmas is “Hackney Diamonds”, the latest work by the Rolling Stones.
