King Charles III of England asked this Monday, in his Christmas speech, for the “protection of the planet” and “mutual protection” between neighbors, on the latter issue without making any explicit reference to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, EFE reported.
In the speech recorded in the main hall of Buckingham Palace, despite some expectations, Charles III did not address other issues relevant to the United Kingdom and ordinary citizens, such as the cost of living or the state of the health system.
The monarch, who has never hidden his passion for environmental protection, such as organic farming that he has practiced for 40 years, called to protect the planet because, he highlighted: “It is the home that we all share.”
“Throughout my life, I have rejoiced in the fact that more and more attention has been paid to the need to protect the planet and our natural world, because it is the home we all share. I find it a great inspiration that so much people recognize this. In fact, as already happens in the Christmas story, which tells us that the angels brought the message first to the shepherds, because these were the people who lived among the other creatures of the Lord,” he highlighted.
In the current political climate, with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict breaking out this year and the war between Ukraine and Russia still ongoing for almost two years, the King of England invited everyone to pray, saying only: “Let us do all we can. be necessary”. It is in our hands to protect our neighbors.”
“On this Christmas Day, my heart and gratitude go out to all those who serve others and those who care for our common home, as well as those who seek the good of others. I wish you a Merry Christmas, peace in the land and good wishes to all, today and always,” declared the King.
Carlos III also recalled that this time of year is an opportunity for families to come together, to remember those who have died and also to remember those who are dedicated to helping others.
“Over the past year, my heart has been touched by the many examples of imaginative ways in which people have cared for each other, going the extra mile to help those around them simply because they know it is the right thing to do: at home , at work, and in their communities,” said the monarch.
He noted in this regard that he and his wife (Camilla) are “very pleased that hundreds of representatives of this altruistic people have joined them at Westminster Abbey for this year’s coronation.” These people, he stressed, “are an essential part of our society.”
