About ten people were celebrating Christmas at a family dinner in Maringá, northern Paraná, Brazil, when the brother of the house’s owner burst into the place and started shooting. He killed three people and injured four others. According to Brazilian authorities, quoted by the G1 portal, a dispute over inheritance may have been at the origin of the crime.
The 56-year-old man, wearing gloves and a mask, entered the place where the family was gathered, locked the gate with a padlock and approached the people, starting to shoot. In between he also changed the weapons magazine.
The fatalities are a father and sons, aged 53, 24 and 18.
Two people, aged 16 and 26, were shot in the chest, neck and other parts of the body, but managed to jump over the wall and escape the gunman. Another person was shot in the leg.
A fourth person was hit by six shots and is in serious condition.
The attacker, the homeowner’s brother, later committed suicide on the couch in the house.
According to authorities cited by G1, the man acted motivated by a family dispute related to an inheritance.
