Netanyahu. Peace can only be achieved after destroying Hamas and demilitarizing and deradicalizing Gaza

“We must destroy Hamas, demilitarize Gaza and deradicalize the entire Palestinian society.” These are Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s three conditions to achieve “peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors in Gaza.”

The conditions for the end of the war were revealed in an op-ed by Netanyahu published in Monday’s edition of The Wall Street Journal.

The head of the Israeli government first refers to Hamas, “an important representative of Iran,” which “must be destroyed,” indicating that allied countries such as the US, the United Kingdom, France and Germany “support Israel’s intention to destroy country. terrorist group.”

To achieve this goal, Hamas’s “military capabilities” must be “dismantled and Hamas’s political dominance over Gaza must end.”

“Hamas leaders have vowed to repeat the October 7 massacre. Therefore, its destruction is the only proportionate response to prevent the recurrence of such terrible atrocities. Anything less guarantees more war and more bloodshed,” Netanyahu justified.

He then argued in his opinion article that it is necessary to ensure that Gaza is “never again used as a base to attack Israel.” To achieve this goal, it is necessary to “establish a temporary security zone on the edge of Gaza and an inspection mechanism on the Gaza-Egypt border that meets Israel’s security needs and prevents the smuggling of weapons into the area.”

Peace can only be achieved if Gaza is demilitarized, the Israeli prime minister also said. The “expectation that the Palestinian Authority will demilitarize Gaza is an impossible dream,” wrote Netanyahu, who also defended the deradicalization of Palestinian society.

“If Hamas is destroyed, Gaza will be demilitarized and if Palestinian society begins a process of de-radicalization, the Gaza Strip can be rebuilt and the prospects for broader peace in the Middle East will become a reality,” the Israeli leader defended.

The Israeli army says it has hit more than 100 Hamas targets in 24 hours

Also on Monday, Israel’s prime minister said Israel will expand its ground offensive in Gaza in the coming days, despite international efforts to stop the fighting.

And this is what happened on Tuesday as Israeli forces intensified fighting in the Palestinian enclave.

During the morning, the Israeli army attacked the town of Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza, where Israel announced it was now concentrating most of its offensive against Hamas.

According to an AFP correspondent, Israeli attacks continued throughout the night, mainly in Khan Yunis and the neighboring town of Rafah, on the Egyptian border, where tens of thousands of displaced people have been confined to makeshift camps.

According to Hamas, 30 bodies of victims of Israeli attacks have been transported to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis in the past 24 hours.

However, the Israeli army announced that it had hit more than a hundred Hamas targets within 24 hours, including tunnel entrances and military sites used to attack soldiers, namely in Jabaliya, in the north, and in Khan Yunis, in the south .
