A woman and four children between nine months and 10 years old were found dead this Monday in their apartment, in the town of Meaux, in northern France.
The main suspect, the husband of the victim and father of the children, was arrested this Tuesday by the police, according to the French press. He is a 33-year-old man who had already been identified by authorities for complaints of domestic violence in 2019.
The 35-year-old woman and her ten- and seven-year-old daughters were stabbed with a sharp weapon, while her four- and nine-month-old sons were victims of drowning or suffocation.
In a press conference this Tuesday, the Meaux prosecutor speaks of a “criminal scenario of great violence.”
Medical and administrative documents, as well as medication prescriptions found in the apartment, may indicate that the suspect was hospitalized for psychiatric reasons in 2017, according to the BFMTV channel.
The neighbors gave the alert this Monday.
