At least 20 people were killed and several were injured in an attack by the Israeli Army this Wednesday against a building near the Khan Younis hospital in the southern Gaza Strip, said the local government, controlled by the Islamist movement Hamas.
The spokesman for the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf al Qidra, described the attack as a “horrible massacre” and highlighted that the Israeli Army attacked a place of refuge for those displaced from the military offensive against the enclave.
“So far 20 martyrs and dozens of injuries have been confirmed, although it is likely that the number (of victims) will increase,” said the same source in a brief statement published by the Ministry of Health on the social network Facebook.
Shortly before, the Palestinian Red Crescent had published on the social network its services to remove people from the place and several bodies from the street.
The attack, on which the Israeli army did not comment, comes after Israel’s offensive against Gaza, following the unprecedented attacks launched on October 7 by the Islamist group Hamas, which left around 1,200 dead and around 240 kidnapped. .
This offensive had also caused this Tuesday a new ‘blackout’ in fixed telecommunications and internet services, which are little by little being reestablished in the center and south of the territory, the Paltel company reported this Wednesday, in a message on X.
