Egypt says it has received no answers on plan to resolve Gaza war

Egypt has not yet received a response to the three-pronged plan presented to the parties involved to resolve the war in the Gaza Strip, the head of Egypt’s State Information Service, which acts as a government spokesperson, said on Thursday.

“Egypt confirms that it has not yet received a response to the framework proposal from the parties involved,” Diaa Rashwan said in a statement.

Rashwan confirmed that Cairo has already presented a framework proposal to “try to bring together all stakeholders in an effort to stop the Palestinian bloodshed, aggression against the Gaza Strip and restore peace and stability to the region.”

Rashwan said the framework was drawn up after Egypt “listened to the views of all stakeholders,” which he did not name, and that it is a proposal that includes “three consecutive and interconnected phases, culminating in a ceasefire” .

The head of Egypt’s State Information Service did not elaborate on the phases involved.

“Once responses from interested parties are received, the proposal will be developed in detail and fully announced to the Egyptian, Arab and international public,” he concluded.

On Tuesday, Palestinian and Egyptian sources familiar with the talks told Spanish news agency EFE on condition of anonymity that Egypt has proposed to the Islamist group Hamas and Islamic Jihad a “Palestinian national dialogue” to end divisions between the various factions and a technocratic government in the West. Bank and Gaza.

This government would oversee the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and pave the way for Palestinian parliamentary and presidential elections.

This proposal is the second point of the three-axis plan that Egypt presented to the two Palestinian movements, after two separate meetings in Cairo, and the ultimate aim of which is to achieve a definitive cessation of attacks on the enclave and the withdrawal of the Israeli reach the army. , the sources said.

The other plank is a two-week ceasefire in exchange for the release of 40 Israeli and 120 Palestinian hostages, the sources said.

Rashwan also said, but again without elaborating, that “everything related to the government in Palestine is a purely Palestinian issue and is the subject of discussion between all Palestinian parties.”

Hamas and Islamic Jihad insisted not to negotiate an agreement as long as Israeli attacks on Gaza continue and reiterated that the prisoner exchange must be “all for all”, while Egypt called on the sides to make concessions to end the conflict , the same sources said.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank, the Palestinian National Authorities (PNA) warned today that while Israel “remains deaf to calls from the international community to end its offensive against the Gaza Strip,” Israeli authorities are “deliberately” creating a “humanitarian catastrophe” to genocide” in the enclave.

“Israel is deliberately creating an environment conducive to the spread of deadly diseases, epidemics and famine, in order to complete the genocide of our people in the Gaza Strip,” the Palestinian Foreign Ministry denounced in a statement published on its social networking account. (ex-Twitter).

The ANP expressed its discomfort at the “failure” of all the demands of the international community and said that in a sense it is not surprised, as Israel is carrying out the actions of an “occupying state”, in other words: “destruction, destruction.” genocide” and at the same time decide the “fate” of the citizens of the Gaza Strip.

“The Israeli government is fully and directly responsible for this catastrophic situation, which is a disgrace to humanity, especially because Israel deliberately creates a deadly environment for humans,” the Foreign Ministry stressed.

In this regard, he stressed that despite continued warnings from UN agencies, foreign governments and other international bodies, Israel continues to commit “war crimes”, such as the deaths of thousands of civilians, forced displacement or bombing of medical facilities and shelters.

“This catastrophe encompasses all aspects of Palestinian life […]which makes the Gaza Strip an uninhabitable place,” he denounced.

According to the latest report from Gaza authorities, more than 21,300 people have been killed by Israeli forces since they began their offensive in the Palestinian enclave on October 7, in response to Hamas attacks that left 1,200 dead and enabled kidnappings. people, held hostage.
