The European Union (EU) announced that it had mobilized medical and hygiene supplies for the population in need in the Gaza Strip during the 33rd flight of the Humanitarian Airlift to Egypt, with donations from Portugal and other Member States.
“Today, the 33rd flight of the Humanitarian Airlift since October 16 has brought 38 tons of aid to Egypt, from where it will reach those in need in Gaza.” said the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, in a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Janez Lenarcic specified that “the materials donated by Greece, Spain, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia and UNRWA [Agência das Nações Unidas de Assistência aos Refugiados Palestinianos no Médio Oriente] include sleeping bags, hygiene kits and medical supplies”.
Israel declared war on Hamas after the Palestinian Islamist group launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7.
The attack left about 1,200 dead, according to Israeli authorities, and Hamas commandos also took 240 hostages to the Gaza Strip.
Since then, Israel has launched a land, air and sea offensive against the small Palestinian coastal enclave, causing 21,320 deaths, according to a report updated Thursday by Hamas health structures.
