At least 14 Eurostar trains between cities in continental Europe and the United Kingdom were canceled today due to the closure of a line near London, the company revealed.
“Due to an infrastructure problem on the high-speed line near London, we are forced to cancel some trains departing or terminating in London,” reads the Eurostar website.
The suspensions, which occur on one of the busiest weekends of the year, will stop thousands of passengers, Agence France-Presse reports.
According to the British agency PA, trains were canceled due to flooding in a tunnel in southern England.
The same agency says cancellations should continue until the end of the day because heavy rain is forecast.
Already on December 21, the departure period for the Christmas holidays, Eurostar passengers faced numerous train cancellations due to a strike that paralyzed the tunnel under the English Channel.
