Putin sends Christmas greetings to allies and ignores Westerners

The Kremlin chief also stressed that friendly relations with Venezuela – whose leader, Nicolás Maduro, will visit the country next year – are “at a high level.” and also defended the “fruitful” development of cooperation with Nicaragua and Bolivia, in messages addressed to their leaders, Daniel Ortega and Luis Arce.

Putin also congratulated Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel and General Raúl Castro on Christmas and Liberation Day, celebrated annually on January 1 on the island, defending the development of their relations in the interests of “a democratic and fair one.”

According to the Kremlin, Putin also sent Christmas greetings to Pope Francis and former Western leaders such as France’s Nicolas Sarkozy and Germany’s Gerhard Schröder.
