According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, the attacks killed at least five civilians, including a five-day-old child, the WHO leader stressed.
“14,000 people were taking refuge in the hospital in the besieged city of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Many of them have already left and the rest greatly fear for their safety and plan to leave a place where they have gone to seek refuge and protection,” he added.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus once again insisted on a call for “an immediate ceasefire”, which includes “urgent actions” to guarantee the supply of food, medical equipment, water and other essential goods.
The official also highlighted that “WHO movements, especially in northern Gaza and increasingly in the south,” are being “severely hampered by the current violence within Gaza.”
“Our operations are further hampered when essential local partners, such as the Palestinian Red Crescent, are unnecessarily affected by attacks,” he added.
