A strong promise in a country where this right is threatened. The president of the United States, Joe Biden, promised this Tuesday that the first law on the agenda of the United States Congress, in the event of a Democratic victory in the midterm elections, would guarantee the right to abortion.
“And if Congress approves it, I will sign it in January,” the president continued, committing instead to raising his “veto” if the Republicans won the November 8 elections and banned abortion at the federal level.
Last June, the Supreme Court struck down the right to abortion in the United States, the United States. This decision does not make terminations of pregnancy illegal, but rather returns the United States to the situation that prevailed before the emblematic “Roe v. Wade” ruling of 1973, when each state was free to authorize them or not.
