The European Union (EU) will finance Ukraine with €18 billion in 2023, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced today after the European Council meeting.
“The discussion [entre os líderes da UE] was around €1.5 billion monthly funding to Ukraine, funded by the EU,” he said, adding that this results in “a global value of €18 billion for the next year”.
At the summit’s last press conference, which took place in Brussels on Thursday and today, the community administrator’s leader stated that Kiev was asking for help between three and four billion euros for 2023, which von der Leyen emphasized. are made available by the United States and financial institutions.
Ursula von der Leyen also added that EU finance ministers were tasked with “developing the right mechanism” to enable Kiev “this reliable revenue stream”.
Russia launched a military offensive on February 24 that was condemned by the EU, which has responded by sending money and weapons to Ukraine and imposing political and economic sanctions on Moscow.
