IS-K, a cell of the Islamic State group that appeared in eastern Afghanistan in 2014, seeks to establish a caliphate that would extend to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran.
“Greater cooperation” with Moscow

Most recently, on January 3, 2024, this branch carried out a bomb attack in Kerman, Iran, during a memorial procession honoring Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. The attack left more than 100 dead and around 150 injured.
But what particularly worries France is that for several years this sector has been exported internationally. She was involved in several recently thwarted attack plots in several European countries, including Germany and France.
