Attack in Moscow: Macron confirms that Daesh Khorassan branch carried out “attempts” in France

The “involved” branch of IS had made “several attempts” in France, the President of the Republic stated on Monday, March 25, upon his arrival in Guyana.

An identified enemy. On his trip to Cayenne this Monday, March 25, 2024, Emmanuel Macron confirmed that the Islamic State Khorasan (EIK) group has tried on several occasions to attack France.

The “involved” branch of IS had made “several attempts” in France, stated the President of the Republic upon his arrival in Guyana.

“This particular group has carried out several attacks on our own soil in recent months,” declared the Head of State.

IS-K, a cell of the Islamic State group that appeared in eastern Afghanistan in 2014, seeks to establish a caliphate that would extend to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran.

“Greater cooperation” with Moscow

In fact, “given its ramifications and its intentions, as a precaution,” explains Emmanuel Macron, the Vigipirate plan was taken to the maximum on French territory.

Regarding the attack in Moscow last Friday, during this same speech in Guyana, Emmanuel Macron confirmed that France offered Russia “greater cooperation”, without revealing its nature.

This branch of the Islamic State is particularly known for having claimed responsibility for the attack on the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, on August 26, 2021, which left 173 dead.

Most recently, on January 3, 2024, this branch carried out a bomb attack in Kerman, Iran, during a memorial procession honoring Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. The attack left more than 100 dead and around 150 injured.

But what particularly worries France is that for several years this sector has been exported internationally. She was involved in several recently thwarted attack plots in several European countries, including Germany and France.
