At least four people died and five others were injured after a knife attack this Wednesday, March 27, in Rockford in the state of Illinois in the United States, several US media outlets, including ABC 7 Chicago, report.
According to local police chief Carla Redd, the first call for help came around 1:15 p.m. local time. Shortly after, additional calls came in to police and emergency personnel at multiple locations in Rockford and around Winnebago County.

Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana said there was a home invasion. A young woman who tried to escape from her was stabbed in the face and hands and was seriously injured.
The suspect, arrested around 1:30 p.m., was taken into police custody and is being questioned by investigators; His motives are currently unknown. According to police, no other suspects are actively sought and federal police are also involved in the investigation.
The mayor of Rockford said he was “completely shocked by this act of violence.”
