A new armed drama in the United States. In Nashville, in the US state of Tennessee, a mother is responsible for the death of her 13-year-old daughter. De’Ann Radley, while searching for her keys in her purse, accidentally fired her semi-automatic, the New York Post reported.
“Dearria’s mother (the teenager, editor’s note) told the inspectors that her 40-caliber semi-automatic pistol was in her bag along with other objects,” police sources explained to the press.
The teenager, hit by a single bullet, died while being treated in a pediatric emergency room.
A call for donations for funerals
The grieving mother took to Facebook to express her grief following this accident. “Hug your children because I lost mine. There are no words to describe this pain,” the mother said in a message.
“I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone. Darling, I need you. I love you so much, baby,” the mother also shared in another post.
Adding to the pain of loss is the difficulty of financing the funeral. De’Ann Radley says she can’t afford to bury her daughter. She has opened a prize fund from which $15,000 is claimed. As of March 28, more than $8,000 had been raised.
“I need help with her funeral, my 13-year-old daughter was accidentally shot dead, I don’t have insurance to bury her, can someone help me in this very painful moment,” the mother asks the donors.
For the city of Nashville, this is another gun-related tragedy. In April 2023, large demonstrations took place outside the state Capitol to demand stricter legislation, following several deadly school shootings. One of them, at a primary school, claimed the lives of six people, including three children.
