The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, greeted the new Prime Minister of Italy, Georgia Meloni, on Saturday after the inauguration of his government, wishing the maintenance of “fruitful cooperation”.
The leader of the far-right Brothers of Italy was sworn in as prime minister, becoming the first woman to hold this post in the country’s history.
“Congratulations to Georgia Meloni, the first woman to be prime minister in Italy,” Zelensky wrote on his Twitter account.
The Ukrainian leader also expressed the hope that the new Italian government “successfully responds to all current challenges.”
“I hope to continue fruitful cooperation to ensure peace and prosperity in Ukraine, Italy and the world,” says Zelensky’s message.
