Ukraine accuses Iran of providing material and training to Russian army

Ukraine’s secret services accused Iran on Monday of supplying body armor and helmets to the Russian military and that a group of Iranian “advisors” entered Russia to train troops.

According to the chief information directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Russia currently does not have the capacity to provide military equipment to its troops deployed on Ukrainian territory, so it asked for Iran’s help.

Ukraine reported to have information that the Russian army will receive 1,500 bulletproof vests and an equal number of helmets manufactured by Iran and currently stored in a logistics center in the Belgorod region, in western Russia and on the border with Ukraine. Kherson region.

The same Ukrainian source indicated that Tehran will send a group of instructors who will train Russian troops in the use of a new model of missiles also made in Iran, whose deliveries will begin “in the near future”.

In recent days, Ukrainian authorities have stepped up accusations against Iran, in particular for alleged arms deliveries to Russia, notably ‘drones’ (unmanned aerial vehicles), with which Moscow has attacked Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

The military offensive launched by Russia in Ukraine on February 24 has already resulted in more than 13 million people having fled — more than six million internally displaced persons and more than 7.7 million to European countries — according to the latest UN data, which ranks this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion – justified by Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security – was condemned by the international community at large, which has responded by sending arms to Ukraine and to impose political and economic sanctions on Russia.

The UN says 6,374 civilians have been killed and 9,776 injured since the start of the war, which entered its 243rd day this Monday, stressing that the number is far below the true number.
