Russia “will have to answer” for “barbaric violations of the laws of war” in Ukraine, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said during a Senate debate on the conflict.
“Where the Ukrainian army advances, the liberation is accompanied by the discovery of massacres or mass graves, as in Boutcha in the spring and more recently in Izium. These are appalling, disgusting and monstrous acts. These are barbaric violations of the laws of war “. Russia will have to answer for it,” the prime minister said.
Élisabeth Borne also mentioned “incredible comments by the Russian Defense Minister about the use of a dirty bomb by Ukraine. This is nothing more than another lie by Moscow to legitimize the escalation.” To applause from the Senate, she paid tribute to Ukrainians whose “courage inspires admiration” and “heroism inspires respect.”
“Russia is ready for anything”
But “despite Russian weaknesses, don’t believe for a moment that the end of the fighting is near.”
“Russia is ready for anything. And it is not on a battlefield but around a negotiating table that we will find a way out of this war,” he said.
As for weapons, he recalled in particular the forthcoming delivery by France of “anti-aircraft systems such as the Crotale.” “And we are studying the shipment of additional artillery means, such as the unitary rocket launcher” (LRU), he indicated.
