Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking Balaklava power plant in Crimea

Russia accused Ukraine on Thursday of attacking the Balaklava power plant in Sevastopol with a drone, the governor of the capital of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, Mikhail Razvozhaev, revealed on the Telegram social network.

“Tonight, an unmanned device attacked the Balaklava joint venture. One of the transformers that was undergoing maintenance caught fire,” wrote the governor of Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.

The official explained that the transformer suffered minor damage and that there were no victims, since the radars diverted the drone from its trajectory and it did not hit the target.

Razvozhaev also said that the “incident” does not affect the energy supply of Sevastopol and the peninsula.
