Lula is once again credited with a six-point lead over Jair Bolsonaro in voting intention for the second round of Brazil’s presidential election on Sunday, with 53% to 47% of the votes cast, according to a poll released this week. Thursday by the Datafolha institute. . .
Last week, the gap narrowed slightly, with the left-wing former president just four points (52-48%) ahead of the far-right outgoing head of state, in an opinion poll by the same institute.
Jair Bolsonaro recently assured that he would only accept the result “if nothing abnormal happens”, after repeatedly questioning the reliability of the electronic ballot box system, without ever presenting evidence.
A decisive debate on Friday night
In the survey published on Thursday, Lula shows once again that he is the favorite candidate of women (52%), the poorest (61%) and Catholics (55%). Jair Bolsonaro, for his part, obtained better scores among the respondents of the evangelical confession (62%) and the richest (59%).
Datafolha surveyed 4,580 people living in 252 cities between Tuesday and Thursday. The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points.
There are two days of campaign left for the candidates to try to convince the last undecided. The final debate on Friday night on TV Globo, the most watched channel in the country, could prove decisive.
