The American oil companies ExxonMobil and Chevron announced this Friday that they closed the third quarter with strong profit increases, which in the case of the former reached 19,660 million dollars (19,612 million euros).
Between July and September, ExxonMobil’s net income nearly tripled from a year ago, according to a statement.
Chevron’s third quarter profit increased to 11,231 million dollars (11,204 million euros), 83.8% more than in the same period of 2021.
ExxonMobil’s turnover grew 51.9% to 112,070 million dollars (111,797 million euros), while Chevron’s revenue increased 49% to 66,644 million dollars (66,481 million euros).
“The investments we have made, even during the pandemic, have allowed us to increase production to meet consumer needs,” said Darren Woods, president of ExxonMobil.
For his part, Mike Wirth, who runs Chevron, considered that it is a “solid financial performance” in the quarter at the same time that the company increases investments and energy supply.
