First level support. The Hollywood stars who play the “Avengers”, a group of superheroes from the Marvel franchise, turned to social networks this Friday to call on Brazilians to go to the polls this Sunday to vote in the presidential elections.
“Hunger in Brazil is not fiction, but it can end. Listen to our brothers, vote next Sunday,” tweeted actor Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the character of “Nick Fury” in the Marvel movies.
The American actor was responding to a tweet from Brazilian comedian Fabio Porchat, who asked the Avengers for “help” in the race for the Planalto presidential palace.

On Sunday, Brazil will have to choose between former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 77, the leader in the polls and winner of the first round, and the current president, the conservative Jair Bolsonaro, who faces widespread international criticism for having supported the exploitation of minerals and wood in the Amazon.
“The bad guys here are empty shopping bags, guns coming into schools, pharmacies running out of drugs… This is superhero work. Does anyone know ‘hey’?” wrote the comedian, who declared his vote for Lula.
“Report!” Samuel L. Jackson responded in Portuguese followed by the hashtag #allheroesnewearpasdecape, calling on his fellow ‘Avengers’ to join him.
Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Wong quickly responded to the call.
“We are with you on this mission,” Chris Hemsworth responded in Portuguese on Twitter to Juliette, a Brazilian celebrity. “Brazilian Avengers, this Sunday, all of you are worthy to vote. Something more powerful than any hammer,” added the Thor actor.

“By having access to quality education, every child can invent a better future for themselves. Don’t wait for this. Vote for this,” tweeted Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr, also in Portuguese. Interaction with the famous Brazilian television personality, Luciano Huck.
“We are united against oppression!” added Benedict Wong, the British actor who plays Wong.
“Real science makes us stronger, as Bruce Banner proved,” Mark Ruffalo wrote, referring to his Marvel character.
“Please vote on Sunday for brave and open minds and for strong and healthy families,” added Ruffalo, who before the first round called on Brazilians to vote for former President Lula to help combat climate change.
