Russian Navy repels drone attack in Sevastopol Bay

The Russian Navy has repelled a drone attack on the Russian Black Sea fleet in Sevastopol Bay, the governor of this city on the annexed Crimean peninsula said on Saturday.

“The ships of the Russian Black Sea fleet are repelling an attack with drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) in Sevastopol Bay,” Mikhail Razvojayev said, adding that no buildings were hit and the citation was “under control.”

Russia, which launched a military offensive against Ukraine on February 24, annexed Ukraine’s (southern) Crimean peninsula in 2014.

The Ukrainian attacks on Sevastopol come at a time when troops from kyiv have launched a counteroffensive to regain ground in southern Ukraine.

On Thursday, Razvojayev announced that the Balaklava power plant had been the subject of a buzznoting, however, that it did not cause significant damage or casualties.

In August, the pro-Russian governor of Crimea reported another drone attack, the second in less than a month, on the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol, causing no injuries.

On July 31, a buzz crashed in the courtyard of the fleet headquarters, injuring five employees, leading to the cancellation of all planned Russian Fleet Day festivities.

Accused by Russia of being behind the attack, Ukraine has denied any involvement and called the accusations “provocation”.
