London accuses Moscow of wanting to “divert the attack”. The British Ministry of Defense denounced this Saturday the “false claims” of Russia, which accused the United Kingdom of being involved in the explosions in the Nord Stream gas pipelines and in a drone attack in Crimea.
“To distract attention from its disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian MoD is resorting to spreading false claims on an epic scale,” UK Defense tweeted.
“This fabricated story says more about the disputes within the Russian government than it does about the West,” the British ministry added.
a double charge
Russia on Saturday accused “representatives of a British Army unit” of “participating in the planning, logistics and implementation of the terrorist act in the Baltic Sea on September 26 to undermine the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.”
The Russian military also blamed Ukraine and the United Kingdom on Saturday for the massive drone attack on its Black Sea fleet in Crimea, a Ukrainian peninsula annexed by Moscow, which caused “minor damage” to one of the ships.
