US Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says she is ‘traumatised’ by her husband’s violent attack

Paul Pelosi was attacked in his home by a man with a hammer, who was actually looking for Nancy Pelosi. He is recovering from his injuries and his condition is improving, according to his wife.

The leader of the Democrats in Congress, Nancy Pelosi, reacted this Saturday to the violent attack of her husband, on Friday at their home in California.

“Our children, our grandchildren and I are heartbroken and traumatized by the life-threatening assault on our dad,” he wrote in a letter posted on Twitter.

Paul Pelosi was attacked in his home by a man with a hammer, who was actually looking for Nancy Pelosi.

“We are grateful for the quick response from law enforcement and emergency services, and for the life-saving medical treatment he is receiving,” it added.

Paul Pelosi, 82, who had surgery and is recovering in hospital, was home alone. Nancy Pelosi was in Washington. “His condition continues to improve,” Pelosi added in the letter.

I was looking for Nancy Pelosi

San Francisco police say officers found the assailant at the couple’s home shortly before 2:30 a.m., where he and Paul Pelosi were fighting over a hammer.

“The suspect ripped Mr. Pelosi’s sledgehammer away and violently attacked him,” San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott told reporters. He later claimed that Paul Pelosi had been punched at least once.

Police identified the assailant as 42-year-old David Depape. Scott said Depape will be charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and other misdemeanors.

“It was not a random act … it was intentional,” he said.

The suspect “demanded to see me and viciously attacked my husband Paul,” Nancy Pelosi wrote in her letter. According to US media citing sources close to the family, the aggressor had told Paul Pelosi that he was going to tie him up and wait for his wife to arrive.

Far right positions

Local media had previously reported that the individual yelled “Where’s Nancy?” Speaking after casting his ballot in his home state of Delaware on Saturday afternoon, President Joe Biden said he “wasn’t sure, but it looks like this (assault) was aimed at Nancy.”

“Vous ne pouvez pas condamner la violence à moins de condamner ces people que continuant de pretendre les elections n’étaient pas réelles, qu’elles ont été volées – toutes les conneries qui ont été diffused pour saper la démocratie”, at -él it states.

According to police officers quoted by the Wall Street Journal, the suspect had adopted far-right positions on social media. In recent months, many elected officials have warned against a resurgence of violence against US politicians, with Republican Sen. Susan Collins declaring that she would not be “surprised” if an elected official or senator “dies.”
